Prof. Mark Altaweel is a distinguished academic known for his expertise in Near East Archaeology and Archaeological Data Science. Currently serving as the Vice-Dean of Innovation, Enterprise, and Knowledge Exchange in the Social and Historical Sciences department at University College London, he holds a PhD from the University of Chicago, earned in 2004. With an impressive body of work comprising 143 publications, Professor Altaweel approaches his research through a data science lens, leveraging complex system modeling and machine/deep learning methods to investigate heritage, landscape, and social-environmental topics.
