Abu Dhabi University (ADU) signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Burjeel Holdings, a leading super-specialty healthcare services provider in MENA, to advance research in health sciences and enhance the academic experience for university students through world-class practical expertise.
The two parties will collaborate to advance clinical studies in the UAE in line with national ambitions to become a global healthcare hub. The partnership will also increase opportunities for national and international grants for ADU students and faculty members.
Through joint initiatives, ADU and Burjeel Holdings aim to improve academic excellence and integrate industry insights to further develop curricula for students. Both parties also seek to foster innovation through collaborative research projects and the inauguration of innovative labs, advancing ADU's standing as a hub for cutting-edge discoveries.

As part of an MoU signing between the two entities, Sheikh Shakhbout Medical City provided students an opportunity to apply their skills in a practical environment, under the guidance of SSMC’s engineering team
As part of a partnership agreement between Sheikh Shakhbout Medical City (SSMC) and ADU, ADU’s Interior Design students were given a firsthand educational experience to learn, apply their skills and express their creativity by applying their innovative design ideas in the Department of Pediatric Rehabilitation. In addition to empowering students and creating positive spaces for patients, this collaboration will support students in working and learning alongside SSMC’s engineering team and further applying new designs across its facilities.
The entire process included four phases. During the first phase, ADU students and faculty members provided significant input and ideas for designing the Pediatric Rehabilitation Department under the supervision of Dr. Ahmed Elshakhs, Assistant professor of interior and furniture design, Architecture and Design Department, at ADU. The renovation process includes plans for the entrance, corridors, reception, waiting areas, two treatment rooms, a gymnasium and a speech therapy room.
Following the success of the first installation, further design phases will follow as part of the collaboration. Currently, SSMC’s engineering team and ADU students are working together on the hospital’s Gynecology Emergency and Pre-Natal Diagnostic Center, with plans to also include the Pediatric ward, Maternity Emergency Room
OROR area. In addition to the Parent Diagnostically Center, which is set to be completed by the end of 2022.

The MoU aims to facilitate student placements, offer training programs and enable the exchange of expertise. It will also provide the students with the opportunity to gain practical experience and industry exposure at Danat Al Emarat Hospital.
The MoU was signed by Professor Ghassan Aouad, Chancellor of ADU, Dr. Hamdi Sheibani, Dean of the College of Health Sciences at ADU and Mr. Omar Al Naqbi, Acting Executive Director of Danat Al Emarat Hospital for Women & Children, in the presence of leadership from both entities.
The partnership seeks to enable joint research collaborations and programs between both parties in an effort to promote academic excellence. The agreement will boost the role of human resources, administrative, and leadership practices as well as to drive innovation in the field of health sciences. Parallelly, ADU and Danat Al Emarat will offer research grants for students, researchers, and faculty members.
Both entities will work hand-in-hand to organize conferences, workshops, seminars, and academic and training programs, which will discuss the latest developments and best practices in medicine.
ADU and Danat Al Emarat Hospital join forces to enrich the educational experience available to students, faculty and staff members. This collaboration will grant ADU students’ access to advanced medical diagnostic laboratories, enabling them to receive hands-on training in various disciplines such as public health, occupational and environmental health and safety, diagnostic medicine, laboratory medicine, as well as molecular and medical genetics.
Danat Al Emarat Hospital will provide ADU with consultation services for the development, modification and program advisory boards of the University's health and medical sciences department. This collaborative effort is focused on addressing the demands of the health industry, meeting national and community needs and ensuring continuous improvement in the quality of the programs offered to future generations.
In accordance with the “Frontline Workers Scholarship”, ADU will offer robust assistance to Danat Al Emarat Hospital’s frontline workers, facilitating their enrollment in bachelor's and master's programs across the university.

ABU DHABI, 20th October, 2022 - Abu Dhabi Health Services Company (SEHA), the UAE’s largest healthcare network, has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Abu Dhabi University (ADU) to bolster medical education and mutual knowledge transfer between the two entities.
The partnership will aim to promote ties between both parties through student placements, training programmes, sharing of facilities and resources, and exchange of expertise.
SEHA and ADU plan to support each other to encourage training for students, professional staff, and faculty and to facilitate exchange of information and networking.
As per the agreement, ADU will support SEHA frontline workers, and their dependents, wishing to join undergraduate or postgraduate programs, through the Frontline Workers Scholarship – offering a 20 percent waiver on tuition fees.

Emirates Red Crescent and Abu Dhabi University recently launched the Education Support Campaign in coordination with Abu Dhabi Cooperative Society and Lulu Group International. Through this collaboration, ADU and Emirates Red Crescent will support disadvantaged students in their university studies, providing them with an opportunity for a successful educational journey. The campaign aims to raise 10 million dirhams, and students will benefit from these funds starting 24 November 2021 and for one year. (This activity is licensed by the Department of Community Development – Abu Dhabi, permit number 022).
Abu Dhabi Cooperative Society and Lulu Group International will aid the campaign by facilitating donations through their different points of sale. Community members will show their solidarity by donating valuable aid to students, starting at two dirhams.
Public donations will be accepted via text message through Etisalat and Du. Bank donations can be sent to Sharjah Islamic Bank - account number (11445518006), IBAN (AE350410000011445518006). Individuals can also donate through the link provided on the Emirates Red Crescent website (https://www.emiratesrc.ae/eduadu), with the donations ranging from ten dirhams to 1,000 dirhams.
