During these two days, the conference will feature distinguished experts who will deliver keynote speeches, contribute valuable lectures, and present posters on topics closely aligned with the conference’s themes.
ICECCE 2024 provides a unique platform for engineers, scientists, professionals, policymakers, investors, and various stakeholders to delve into recent advancements in Electrical, Electronics, Computer, and Communication Engineering and

Inaugurated on the international stage in Dubai, the Results and Awarding Ceremony of the 2023 UI GreenMetric World University Rankings unfolded at the Waldorf Astoria, Dubai Palm Jumeirah on December 5, 2023. This monumental event, graciously hosted by Abu Dhabi University, not only marked a momentous occasion but also demonstrated alignment with COP 28, coupled with collaboration with ICASF 2023. The ceremony commendably recognized and awarded 14 awards upon universities from 84 countries, lauding their exemplary sustainability achievements. Drawing nearly a hundred participants, the event transcended into a pivotal nexus of collaboration and partnerships between UI GreenMetric and sustainable universities globally, setting a trajectory towards an increasingly sustainable future. The proceedings commenced with a salutary address by H.E. Husin Bagis, the Ambassador of the Republic of Indonesia for the UAE, followed by insightful remarks from Prof. Ghassan Aouad, the Rector of Abu Dhabi University. The agenda unfolded with a keynote address by Prof. Waldemar Siwinski, the President of IREG Observatory and Academic Ranking, and seamlessly transitioned to the discourse by Prof. Dr. Ir. Riri Fitri Sari, M.M., M.Sc., the Chairperson of UI GreenMetric.
The main of the event was the unveiling of the 2023 UI GreenMetric World University Ranking results, proudly presented by Dr. Junaidi, S.S., M.A., the Vice Chair of UI GreenMetric. The presentation meticulously delineated the top 50 most sustainable universities, elucidating each rank obtained, and culminated in the felicitation of 14 universities with prestigious sustainability awards.
Foremost among these recognitions was bestowed upon Wageningen University & Research from the Netherlands, rightfully crowned the World Most Sustainable University in the 2023 UI GreenMetric World University Rankings, attaining an extraordinary total score of 9500. Abu Dhabi University hosted yesterday a very important roundtable on gender issues and women empowerment organised by the Office of the EU Embassy in the UAE. The European Union is funding a programme entitled Outreach Facility for the GCC. One of the priorities of this programme is gender equality and women empowerment, an important policy area for both the UAE and the EU. The roundtable was attended by many influential organisations in the presence of the EU Ambassador to the UAE, HE Lucie Berger. The roundtable was facilitated by the very capable Dr Melissa Langworthy. Many thanks to Dr Haifa Al Kaylani OBE for recommending us to host this important roundtable. ADU’s 11th National Math Competition, organized by our College of Arts and Sciences, was, once again, a resounding success. Attended by more than 300 students from 82 high schools across the UAE, the Competition allowed students to explore the fascinating world of mathematics, utilize their critical thinking skills, and solve complex mathematical problems applicable to the real world. Looking back on my incredible experience at the 11th Undergraduate Research and Innovation Competition hosted by Abu Dhabi University and RTX. I feel immensely grateful and proud. I had the honor of winning twice in the innovation
category for my projects "Design of an Integrated Offshore Mariculture with Renewable Energy Technologies" and "Design of Fruit and Palm Cutting Drone and Rover."
Engaging with over 100+ participants was truly inspiring, as their valuable comments and fresh ideas have given me new perspectives and motivated me to push the boundaries of innovation further.

for UAE students and beyond through a hybrid conference in Al Ain, UAE from 2-3 October 2024.
The conference, under the theme ‘Innovations in Teaching & Learning: Charting Higher Education’s Path Forward’, was organized by ADU in partnership with the Regional Center for Educational Planning, UNESCO
(RCEP-UNESCO), Liwa College, Quality Matters (QM), University of Florida (UF), Queen Rania Teaching Academy (QRTA), and Drexel University School of Education. The conference received 250 papers from 25 countries around the world with
125 papers presented both physically and virtually during the conference.
The event brought together leading academic professionals, researchers, and practitioners to showcase innovative teaching approaches and address pressing challenges in the global academic context. The diverse panel of expert speakers
also highlighted the importance of both cross-border and inter-field collaboration in curriculums to offer students a more comprehensive academic foundation that will better serve the needs of the increasingly globalized and
interconnected economy of the future. Additionally, the conference featured ChatGPT as a panelist in a session titled “AI and Education: Revolutionizing Pedagogies and Empowering Learners,” highlighting the growing role of
AI in improving education, student success and engagement.

The conference witnessed the participation of over 200 attendees and subject matter experts from renowned national and international organizations including ADU, RCEP-UNESCO, Emirates College for Advanced Education, Khalifa Award for

The speakers addressed key areas that will impact the future of the academic landscape including Sustainable Education Practices, Educational Technology and Tools, Faculty and Teacher Development and Support, and Pedagogy and
Instructional Design. Workshops were also organized to help enhance virtual education delivery, ensure inclusivity in diverse classroom settings, and highlight the role of AI in teaching and learning with the aim to enhance educational
outcomes for both students and faculty.
In the presence and under the patronage of H.E. Sheikh Nahayan Mabarak Al Nahayan, Cabinet Member and Minister of Tolerance and Coexistence, Abu Dhabi University (ADU) is hosting the ‘International Conference on Advancing
Sustainable Futures’ (ICASF 2023) under the theme of ‘Sustainable Futures and Technologies’. The Conference is in collaboration with the World Health Organization, the International Society of Environmental
Geotechnology, and leading universities worldwide and sponsored by Emirates Red Crescent, Emirates Global Aluminum, and Adeeb Group.
The ICASF 2023 will take place from the 5th to the 6th of December 2023 at the Waldorf Astoria Hotel, Dubai Palm Jumeirah in the presence of several academics and industry experts from over 70 countries.
The ICASF 2023 will serve as a platform for international researchers and specialists to engage in the most pressing challenge and discuss and share their latest research findings in the field of sustainability. Additionally, the
Conference will address the four sustainability pillars in line with the United Nations 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) including technology, people and culture, environment, and economics.
The Conference will feature six tracks, including 34 sessions discussing 210 research papers accepted out of 350 submissions, which will shed light on sustainability and the environment. These sessions will focus on topics such as
Business Management Sustainability and Law, Sustainability and Education, Sustainability in Health, Food, and Social Science and Future Researchers, as well as Science and Engineering Sustainability.
Additionally, three special sessions will take place during the Conference including the Education for Sustainable Development: What, Why, and How and ICASF 2023 - Indexed Scopus Proceedings and Publications and The Need for
Accelerating Transformative Change in Cities and Communities: The Crucial Role Played by Universities. In addition to two panel discussions including the Leaders of Sustainable Futures: Lessons from Industry Eco-Champions and the Role
of ESG Metrics in Accounting and Finance; Measuring Impact Beyond Profit.

The Conference will also witness the signing of groundbreaking Memoranda of Understanding (MoUs) with prestigious international universities and the announcement of the best 14 universities according to the UI GreenMetric World
University Rankings 2023 Award.
UI GreenMetric Rankings evaluates universities based on three core pillars—environmental, economic, and social value. The assessment indicators cover a broad spectrum, including campus infrastructure, energy and climate
initiatives, waste management strategies, water conservation efforts, transportation systems, and the institution's commitment to education and research.
ADU’s College of Business will host the Adam Smith 300 Year Celebrations event during the conference in collaboration with the University of Glasgow. In addition, the ADU Research Institute for Sustainable Future will be announced
at the Conference.
In line with the University’s dedication to raising awareness around climate change and sustainability, ADU will host seven panel discussions in the United Nations Climate Change Conference (COP28). The panels will take place from
the 1st to the 11th of December 2023 at Expo City Dubai, in the Green Zone, with a focus on students’ empowerment to enroll actively in climate change, renewable energy, clean water, and many more.

In line with the UAE’s Year of Sustainability and the directives of His Highness President Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Abu Dhabi University (ADU) launched an integrated system of academic and community initiatives, aimed
at fulfilling the UAE’s directions and vision to host the 28th United Nations Conference of the Parties (COP28) Climate Change Conference.
These initiatives are launched and organized in collaboration with ADU’s strategic partners in the UAE and the support of its students and faculty members. The main aim of these initiatives is to promote sustainability awareness,
address environmental concerns, and develop procedures for conserving natural resources and wildlife.
ADU collaborates with prestigious environmental organizations annually to develop and implement effective solutions for environmental challenges, aligning with the UAE's climate change strategy to achieve net-zero carbon emissions while
adhering to international best practices.
Dr. Ali Saeed Bin Harmal Aldhaheri, Chairman of ADU, stressed that over the past 20 years, ADU has dedicated its efforts to protecting the environment and shaping the future of climate action. In line with its commitment, the University
has launched several academic programs to equip its students and prepare them to excel in environmental and sustainability work. Additionally, ADU has employed expert faculty members and researchers to actively engage the community in
fostering awareness and understanding in the environmental field.
These programs include ADU’s certified program titled ‘COP28 Ready: Leading the Way to Sustainability,’ which is taking place throughout the month of November. The program is open to high school and undergraduate
university students and aims to enhance student’s knowledge and provide them with the necessary tools to understand and embrace several aspects of sustainability, including green jobs, COP28, and many more.
Additionally, under the patronage of His Excellency Sheikh Nahayan Bin Mabarak Al Nahyan, Minister of Tolerance and Coexistence, ADU will host the ‘International Conference on Advancing Sustainable Futures (ICASF 2023), which will
take place between December 5th and 6th, 2023, at the Waldorf Astoria hotel, Dubai. The conference will run in parallel with several workshops and sessions that will delve into sustainability related topics.
ADU is also participating in the 18th United Nations Climate Change Conference of Youth (COY18). During the conference, Professor Sherin Farouk, Associate Provost for Academic Projects and Head of the Sustainability Club at ADU, will
present a session titled 'Sustainable Innovation, Entrepreneurship, and Sustainable Management Practices' on November 27th, 2023, at Expo City, Dubai. Additionally, Sven Ivak, a student from ADU's College of Engineering, will
participate in the conference for his outstanding contributions to addressing climate change.
Lastly, ADU has introduced a certificate for professional development in the field of sustainability titled ‘Professional Certificate to Empower Teachers for Sustainable Learning,’ which is starting during November 2023.
This certificate program includes four sessions designed to equip school principals and educational leaders with the knowledge and tools required to lead their schools toward a sustainable future.
Dr. Ali explained that ADU is honored to be part of the Universities Climate Network (UCN), which includes universities and higher education institutions in the UAE that will work together to drive engagement among youth and academia in
the lead up to COP28.
Along with COP28, several faculty and researchers at the University have submitted research proposals to the Green Education Center, with the aim of strengthening the educational sector’s capacity to effectively respond to
environmental crises.
In line with ADU’s commitment to advancing sustainability research, faculty members and researchers at the University have made significant contributions by publishing a great number of research papers in many prestigious
international journals which were presented at international conferences.
In a bid to foster innovation among school students, Abu Dhabi University's (ADU) College of Engineering - Al Ain campus hosted its first ever RoboCar Maze Competition under the theme 'Mechatronics: The Future of Mechanical
Engineering,' with the participation of over 72 students representing 18 schools from Al Ain City. The competition sponsored by the Technology Innovation Institute (TII) and was attended by TII representatives who were impressed by the
students’ innovation and creativity.
Through the competition, students had the opportunity to enhance their programming skills and foster a sense of teamwork, by assembling and building robotic cars, with the guidance and support of ADU's experts and faculty members. The
competition showcased the students' remarkable talents while emphasizing the importance of exploration in several engineering fields. Furthermore, students demonstrated their creativity and problem-solving abilities by navigating
obstacle courses, following programmed lines, and representing remote control proficiency.
The event served as a platform for students to immerse themselves in the dynamic fields of Artificial Intelligence (AI), robotics, critical thinking, and programming. In addition, the competition aimed to inspire the next generation of
science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) leaders by providing hands-on learning experience in a collaborative and competitive setting.
In conclusion of the event, students presented their projects to jury members who announced the three winning teams. The first place went to Baraem Al Ain School, while Future International Academy claimed the second place, and the
third place was awarded to Tawam Private Model School. In addition to their achievements, the winning teams received monetary prizes as the first place received a generous reward of AED 2,500, while the team that placed second received
AED 2,000 and the third place was honored with a prize of AED 1,500.
Abu Dhabi University (ADU) hosted its first edition of the International Conference on Environment Design, Material Science and Engineering Technologies (EDMSET), held in collaboration with the International Experts for Research
Enrichment and Knowledge Exchange (IEREK). The conference took place at ADU's Dubai campus from the 22nd to the 24th of April 2024, which provided attendees with a platform to engage in discussions and foster innovation across various
fields, including mechanical engineering, architecture, computation, automation, aerospace engineering, and environmental resilience. Additionally, prior to the conference 150 research papers were submitted by subject matter experts and
presented during the EDMSET.
In partnership with Sharjah University and Istituto Marangoni, the event brought together subject matter experts and professionals from prominent academic institutions and organizations focused on sustainability such as WISP USA,
MetaWorldX, Nebrija University Spain, American University of Cairo and University of Portsmouth UK as well as ADU and Roma Tre University.
With the participation of over 200 attendees from 59 countries and over the course of the three days, numerous sessions and workshops were held, that focused on key tracks including technology and sustainability, sustainable materials
and techniques, engineering technologies and fabrication techniques, art, creativity, interior design, fashion and media production as well as sustainable urban futures and enhancing urban sustainability. In addition to topics on
renewable energy, environmental integration and impacts, sustainable living through green solutions and technologies, and sustainable design and construction.
As part of ADU's commitment to fostering advanced research capabilities among students, the University's College of Engineering organized a workshop titled 'Dynamics of Motion' during the EDMSET conference. The workshop was designed to
explore the dynamic movement within urban open spaces, employing advanced spatial configurational analysis to understand and simulate the intricate patterns of motion that define interactions with the urban environment. Furthermore, the
workshop equipped students and participants with methodologies and applications for movement analysis in urban planning and design, with a focus on simulating pedestrian behavior to enhance the creation of effective and responsive urban
spaces.

In line with its ongoing efforts to empower women in engineering, Abu Dhabi University (ADU), concluded the sixth annual 'Women in Engineering Forum' 2024 for the fifth consecutive year. The Forum was organized by ADU’s College of
Engineering in collaboration with the International Federation of Structural Concrete UAE (fib-UAE), and in strategic partnership with Abu Dhabi City Municipality, the Society of Engineers and Abu Dhabi Convention and Exhibition Bureau
and sponsored by TransGulf Readymix.
Under the theme "Engineering the Future: Women Breaking Barriers with Innovation for a Sustainable World," this year's Forum served as a dynamic platform celebrating the remarkable contributions of women in engineering. The event aimed
to enhance equity, diversity, and inclusivity across different engineering fields.
Chaired by Dr. Reem Sabouni, Associate Professor at ADU and ChairWomen Engineers at fib-UAE, and President of the American Society of Civil Engineers UAE Section (ASCE-UAE), the Forum witnessed the gathering of over 20 influential women
in the field of engineering and more than 150 attendees. During the event, the speakers addressed the challenges women face within this field and presented solutions to harness their potential in advancing the engineering profession and
skillset. The event facilitated the exchange of knowledge, experiences, and skills, with a particular focus on sustainable development and women in empowerment.
Through a hybrid format designed to reach regional and international audience, the Forum featured keynote speeches and technical presentations from both international and national experts. These discussions explored the roadmap to
bridge the gender gap in implementing innovative technologies and sustainability practices in various engineering fields.
Abu Dhabi University (ADU) - Al Ain campus, announced the winners of its fifth annual National Inter-School Public Speaking Competition, held between 18-19 May, in collaboration with Liwa International School – Falaj Hazza, aiming
to advance public speaking and communication skills of middle and high school students across the UAE.
The 2024 edition of the competition welcomed 300 participants in groups of three to five from 40 private and public schools across the UAE. Topics of discussion for middle school students were focused on sustainability, resilience,
bullying, and online safety for the youth. High school students tackled more advanced subjects, including the fossil fuel crisis, the impact of diversity and inclusion in schools, Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid's vision for future leaders,
and the importance of media literacy today. In line with ADU’s commitment to help prepare the UAE youth for future endeavors, the competition serves as a world-class platform for local students to challenge themselves,
collaborate, network, and build their communication skills.
The jury, consisting of ADU faculty, evaluated the presentations based on content, delivery, visual appeal, and presentability. Awards were presented to winning teams across four categories; middle school Arabic, middle school English,
high school Arabic and high school English, in addition to four individual awards for Best Speakers.
In the middle school Arabic category, the Mohammed Bin Khalid Al Nahyan Generations School team was awarded first place, second place went to the Zayed Educational Complex team, and the Liwa International School – Al Qatara team
won third place. In the English category, first place went to the Liwa International School – Falaj Hazza team, second place was awarded to the Amity International School – Abu Dhabi team, and third place went to the Al Saad
Indian School – Al Ain team.
In the high school Arabic category, the American National School team won in first place, the Zayed Educational Complex – Al Qatah team won second place, and the Gulf International Private Academy team came in third place. In the
high school English category, the Al Ain Juniors School Indian System team won first place, the Indian School – Al Ain team was awarded second place, and the Madar International School team was awarded third place.
The Best Speakers awards were presented to Marly Amir from Excel International School, Bhavish Arunkamar from Amity International School – Abu Dhabi, Amena Ziead from Mariam Bint Sultan School, and Gladis Babu from the Indian
School – Al Ain.
Abu Dhabi University (ADU) in collaboration with The Gulf Standardization Organization (GSO) and The AdWisers, hosted a Symposium under the theme ‘From Excellence to Impact: Standardization, Research, Innovation and Quality
Education’. The symposium delivered a vibrant, enriching and valuable learning experience for students focused on research and innovation.
Abu Dhabi University hosted the symposium on the 23rd of October 2023 at the H Hotel in Dubai. The symposium featured two sessions. The first session is titled ‘A truly competitive and integrated ecosystem’, and the second
session, ‘Drivers for global success.’
The event witnessed the participation of a wide group of subject matter experts and leaders from renowned organizations such as the Chief Executive Officer of The AdWisers, Chairman GCC – Standardization Organization, ADU and the
European Commission. In addition to CEN-CENELEC, the United Nations Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO), University of Tunis El-Manar – National School of Engineering and Green Climate Fund.
The speakers shared their expertise, stimulated challenging analysis, and started thought-provoking reflections that showcased and demonstrated the advantages of a more integrated nexus of Standardization-Research-Innovation (SRI),
along with quality education. Speakers presented their views on the most fascinating dynamics shaping our world, by combining different perspectives, international trends, and remarkable case studies.
Professor Montasir Qasymeh, Associate Provost for Research and Academic Development at ADU, said: “We are delighted to host the symposium along with our strategic partners GSO and AdWisers, who are as committed as ADU in fostering

In addition, speakers aided in fostering an integrated ecosystem combining SRI and quality education. This contributes to the GSO’s and ADU’s innovative mission that will pave the way for further cooperation and dedicated
support at an international level between researchers, standardizers, academia, industry, and international partners.

seize new opportunities.
In line with the UAE’s Year of Sustainability, Abu Dhabi University (ADU) is hosting a certified program titled “COP28 Ready: Leading the Way to Sustainability”. The program is open to high school and undergraduate
university students and aims to enhance students’ knowledge and provide them with the necessary tools to understand and embrace different aspects of sustainability, including green jobs, COP28, and many more. The program will be
held virtually and will kick-off on the 4th of November and continue until the 28th of November 2023.
Through this program, students will engage in an interactive and enriching learning experience, gaining a comprehensive insight into sustainable practices across various fields. The program will focus on the importance of environmental
stewardship and pluralism as a fundamental aspect of human advancement. Additionally, specialized faculty members from ADU and industry experts will present eight modules in the field of sustainability.
The modules include Artificial Intelligence (AI)-enhanced learning for sustainable futures sustainable development goals (SDGS) and the role of UAE COP28 in driving global sustainability efforts, social sustainability: social conscience
and the interconnectedness of humanity and sustainable innovation, entrepreneurship, and management practices. In addition to legal frameworks and ethics for sustainability, putting science and engineering knowledge in the service of
sustainability and sustainable healthcare systems and public health as well as green jobs for sustainable futures.

The Department of Computer Science and Information Technology at Abu Dhabi University’s (ADU) College of Engineering, hosted the first 5ire Web3 and Blockchain Hackathon in collaboration with 5ire, a fifth-generation blockchain
ecosystem, and in partnership with MetaDecrypt, an industry-leading Metaverse and Blockchain development company. Witnessing the participation of 50 teams representing nine universities across the UAE, the event comes in a bid to
further enhance students’ knowledge of blockchain technology and innovation and to strengthen blockchain education, research and entrepreneurship.
ADU’s faculty members and 5ire trainers introduced students and academics to Web3 and blockchain technology, fostering innovation in the next generation of developers through the utilization of several technologies such as
Metamask, NFT, 5irechain, Ethereum and IPFS. In addition, participants from all coding and programming levels received expert guidance, valuable resources and networking opportunities to ignite their critical thinking and
problem-solving skills.
As part of the event, students attended a workshop focused on Web3 and blockchain technologies, as well as entrepreneurship. The Workshop seeks to foster innovation in the next generation of developers through the integrating
breakthrough technologies in academia while providing expert guidance, valuable resources, and networking opportunities to enhance their understanding of Web3 and blockchain. .Following the workshop, the students worked together and
were encouraged to apply their creativity to competitive and groundbreaking ideas that utilized Web3 and blockchain technologies as well as developing innovative solutions for real-world challenges.

The competition concluded with an award ceremony, where the winners were recognized for their outstanding innovative ideas. The top three winners were recognized from different universities within the UAE where ADU came in second place.
The winning teams’ projects focused on Cryptocurrency and Sustainability.
In line with Abu Dhabi University’s (ADU) community engagement strategy and the Year of Sustainability initiatives, ADU’s College of Engineering, Civil Engineering Department hosted its second Bridge Competition under the
theme ‘Earthquake Bridge Building for a Sustainable Future’ with the participation of over 120 students from both private and public high schools across the UAE. Held at ADU’s Al Ain campus, the Competition was hosted
with the sponsorship of El Race Construction.
During the Competition, students had the opportunity to present their advanced skillset and knowledge in building sustainable earthquake-resistant bridges which can distribute forces that travel through them during a seismic event. With
a two-hour timeframe to present their bridge models to the jury committee, students worked together and showcased their exceptional talent, creativity and teamwork.
A total of 27 schools participated in the Competition, with four teams partaking from each school from both years 11 and 12. Each team shared their bridge models and explained the underlying concept to the jury members and shed light on
the importance of constructing such bridges for a safer and more secure future.
Dr. Abdelkareem Alzo’ubi, Abu Dhabi College of Engineering Coordinator, said: “By hosting the second Bridge Competition, ADU’s College of Engineering provided students with a remarkable opportunity to gain a great
sense of university life and experience. The event was a true testament to the talent and potential of the next generation of engineers.”
Mr. Mohamed Abu Obeid, General Manager of El Race Construction, expressed his pride in supporting this initiative that encourages students' exceptional talents and abilities to contribute to the prosperity and development of our beloved

Following the presentations, the jury members announced the winning teams, where the first place was awarded to Al Ataa School and the second place went to Al Ain Juniors School. Lastly, third place was awarded to Al Israa Private
School. In addition, the winning teams were also rewarded with monetary prizes where the first place received a generous reward of AED 4,000, while the team that placed second received AED 3,000 and the third place was honored with a
prize of AED 2,000.
Building on the success of the three previous editions, Abu Dhabi University’s (ADU) College of Engineering (CoE) hosted the 4th ADU-ASU Research Forum 2023, under the theme of ‘Concrete in Hot Weather: Building for
Tomorrow, Innovations in Sustainable Design and 3D Printing for Smart Construction,’ in collaboration with School of Sustainable Engineering and the Built Environment at Arizona State University (ASU). The Forum presented a
significant contribution to the production of 3D printing sustainable concrete suitable for the UAE’s environmental conditions.
The Forum was inaugurated by Dr. Samer Al Martini, Chair of the Forum and Associate Professor of Civil Engineering at ADU, Prof. Thomas Glas-Hochstettler, Provost of ADU and Dr. Hamdi Sheibain, Dean of the College of Engineering at ADU.
The event serves in line with two United Nations sustainable development goals, SDGs three and nine. The Goals aim to ensure maintaining the health and well-being of individuals as well as promoting construction resilience and solid
infrastructure for inclusive and sustainable industrialization. By addressing these goals, the Forum seeks to generate innovative outcomes that serve in line with the UAE’s year of sustainability and contribute to the ongoing
growth of the country’s knowledge-based economy.
The Forum was inaugurated through strategic partnerships with the American Society of Civil Engineers (ASCE) led by ASCE Director Region, Dr. Elias Al Sayah and ASCE’s President Dr. Reem Sabouni, Abu Dhabi Municipality and Society
of Engineering, in addition to the Forum supporters including Karlsruhe Institute of Technology (KIT) and the Arab Youth Center (UAE).
The event was sponsored by several international and national industrial companies including Schwarzwälder Textil-Werke Heinrich Kautzmann GmbH (STW) Germany, KTI Plersch Kältetechnik, Germany, VIP-Various Ice Product (UAE)
and Transgulf Readymix Concrete (UAE).
The two-day Forum provided students, scientists and engineers with the opportunity to engage in research and development discussions and exchange knowledge on the topic of hot weather concreting, sustainable smart construction and
design while emphasizing the recent advancements and 3D printing technology as a means of solving industrial challenges.
Furthermore, numerous keynote presentations and technical and industrial sessions were featured during the Forum, which focused on sustainability, hot weather building materials and 3D concrete printing construction. Additionally, the
insights gained during the two-day event focused on ways to enhance construction productivity, safety and sustainability. Alongside, addressing challenges related to the utilization of 3D concrete printing technology for structural
applications.
Over 200 individuals participated in the Forum, in addition to 60 attending virtually. Additionally, representatives from industrial companies and public sectors partook in various sessions and lectures throughout the event and
demonstrated their expertise and knowledge in sustainable smart construction and 3D Printing.
Through this event, ADU aims to empower its students by offering world-class extracurricular and learning opportunities that allow them to gain research knowledge, elevate their skillset and provide them with innovative learning
methods. During the Forum, ADU students showcased their sustainability-related projects during the poster and model presentation sessions of the Forum and the ASCE ADU student chapter participated by hosting their chapter’s stand
at the Forum.
On the first day, participants had the opportunity to take a tour in ADU’s CoE 3D Concrete Printing Research Lab, which was inaugurated in mid-February 2023, the lab is a state-of-the-art facility that showcases the latest
advancements in 3D concrete printing. The visit provided attendees with a firsthand look at the cutting-edge technology being developed and utilized at ADU. Furthermore, during the second day of the event, ADU hosted a 3D Concrete
Printing Competition for high school students. The Competition drew the engagement of over 350 high school students and served as a unique opportunity to inspire and foster innovation among young minds. The event, titled the “1st
ADU 3D Concrete Printing High-School Competition,” allowed students to explore the University's cutting-edge 3D Concrete Printing Lab and engage in various student-oriented activities.

Emirates Red Crescent and Abu Dhabi University recently launched the Education Support Campaign in coordination with Abu Dhabi Cooperative Society and Lulu Group International. Through this collaboration, ADU and Emirates Red Crescent will support disadvantaged students in their university studies, providing them with an opportunity for a successful educational journey. The campaign aims to raise 10 million dirhams, and students will benefit from these funds starting 24 November 2021 and for one year. (This activity is licensed by the Department of Community Development – Abu Dhabi, permit number 022).
Abu Dhabi Cooperative Society and Lulu Group International will aid the campaign by facilitating donations through their different points of sale. Community members will show their solidarity by donating valuable aid to students, starting at two dirhams.
Public donations will be accepted via text message through Etisalat and Du. Bank donations can be sent to Sharjah Islamic Bank - account number (11445518006), IBAN (AE350410000011445518006).
