With virtual communication being the new normal due to the Covid-19 pandemic, many scientists hope for a change in the scientific community, with online conferences being the future. However, many other researchers hope that face-to-face meetings will resume after COVID-19 subsides. The debate on the best course of action when the pandemic is over is endless; the pros and cons of virtual and face-to-face meetings are clear.

One significant advantage of online conferences is the so-called greener element. No travel results in lower carbon emissions. The low cost of attending, with no travel or accommodation requirements, may also result in a higher number of attendees. On the other hand, some researchers believe that face-to-face networking opportunities are very important and will, of course, not be available with a virtual conference.

Despite much debate and opposing opinions on how the scientific community should resume its activities after the pandemic, one thing is clear to the majority: we should have the option to participate in conferences and meetings virtually.
