Francesco Palumbo (Ph.D. in Computational Statistics and Applications) has been a Full Professor of Statistics at the University of Naples Federico II since 2009; he was an associate professor and then a Full Professor of Statistics at the University of Macerata from 2001 to 2009. He is a Department of Political Sciences member and teaches Statistics in basic and master's degree courses. He is editor-in-chief of the Italian Journal of Applied Statistics and collaborates with many scientific journals. He has participated as a research unit or coordinator in numerous national and international projects and served the IASC (section of the International Statistical Institute) as scientific secretary (2007-2009) and as council member (2009-2013 and 2017-2019). He was President of ClaDAG (section of the Italian Society of Statistics for Classification and Data Analysis) and a member of the IFCS council (2015-2019). He participates in numerous national and international scientific committees, including the IASC-ISI scientific committee for the ISI session in Durban (South Africa, 2009) and the WSC-ISI committee in Hong Kong 2013 (delegated by the IASC). The main fields of interest are the analysis of complex data structures, data mining and multivariate analysis. He is the vice-rector for education at his university.
