Frequently asked questions under the category of student residences and recreation facilities at ADU

ADU offers student housing at the Abu Dhabi campus, perfectly located for easy access to a range of recreational facilities, shopping centers, and food outlets. Accommodation is separated by gender and is guarded by Security Guards 24/7.

Applicants must be registered students at Abu Dhabi University. Other individuals may apply based on room availability. Those interested can email studenthousing@adu.ac.ae with their full name, contact details, and joining period for assistance with their inquiries.

We have different types of student accommodation available, including:

  • Private: Single occupancy with private bathroom and kitchen (One individual/unit)
  • Semi-Private: Single occupancy per individual with shared bathroom and kitchen (Two individuals/unit)
  • Double occupancy with shared bathroom and kitchen (Two individuals/unit)
  • Double Shared occupancy with shared bathroom and kitchen (Four individuals/unit)

All student accommodations are furnished with a bed, bed linen set, bedside drawer, study desk, wardrobe, microwave oven, small refrigerator, and study chair.

New students who are applying for ADU accommodation must pay a one-time refundable deposit of AED 1000 along with the room fee.

No, pets including fish are NOT allowed in ADU dormitories.

No, there are no meals provided by the Housing Unit. The residents can buy their meals from the food court in the campus, cook in the common kitchens or order from other restaurants.

Many activities and programs are planned every academic year within the residential life programming along with special orientation programs for new joiners.

Each residence has an indoor gym. Other outdoor ADU sports facilities are available. This includes basketball and tennis courts along with football pitches.

Yes, some shopping malls are easily reachable from ADU campuses.

Upon completing the housing application with all requirements, students may check- in three days before the first day of classes for each semester/term while other applicants may check-in as confirmed by the person in charge of the dorm.

Applicants are only eligible to check into the ADU dormitory if a confirmation is communicated by an ADU official.

No. New students must pay the room fee along with the maintenance deposit fee to be eligible to check into ADU Student Housing.

ADU has a medical clinic for students and staff on campus during working hours. For emergencies, contact the Residence Life Coordinator or security guard to assist you.

A medical report is only required for certain medical conditions that require special treatment and as advised by the University Senior Counselor.

As per the Student Housing Policy:

Female students who are residing in the Student Housing must be in their accommodation by 11:00 pm.

International students can stay in the ADU dormitory during vacations, others must obtain approval from the Student Support Office.

International students' belongings can only be stored at the dorm depending on place availability and as instructed by the person in charge of the Student Housing.

Refund

  • The refund periods for students in the Fall and Spring semesters are as follows:
    • 100% refund during the first academic calendar week
    • 50 % refund during the second academic calendar week
    • 0% refund as of the third academic calendar week
  • The refund periods for students in the Winter and Summer terms are as follows:
    • 100% refund during the first and second days of classes
    • 75% refund during the third and fourth days of classes
    • 50% refund during the fifth and sixth days of classes
    • 0% refund as of the seventh day of classes
  • The listed refund periods include weekends.
  • If no expression has been made to reside in ADU dorms after reserving a room and paying the full amount of its fee, the refund policy regulations will be implemented.
  • The housing semesters/terms refund policy is not applicable for part of the term residency. Students must pay for their residency period only as per the Student Housing approved fees.
  • The refund for the furniture deposit will only be processed once the student has been cleared and the room that was occupied has been checked by the person in charge of the Student Housing.
    • Residents who have been dismissed from Student Housing due to a violation of the ADU Code of Conduct or Housing Policy/Regulations are not eligible for a refund of the room reservation cost. 
    • Alumni and staff members who reside in the Student Housing are not entitled to a refund of the housing fees.
    • Any ADU student who receives a visa rejection or goes through a delay to attend a term because of the visa process has the right to claim the full refund of their housing fee/s.

Your housing deposit will be refunded when you leave the student accommodation.
