Professor Montasir Qasymeh is the Associate Provost for Research, Innovation, and Academic Development at Abu Dhabi University. He joined Abu Dhabi University's Electrical and Computer Engineering Department in 2011, in which he also holds the position of Professor in Electrical Engineering.
As both an inventor and professor, Professor Qasymeh is dedicated to pioneering research, fostering innovation, and establishing research centers. Notably, he played a pivotal role in establishing applied research centers at Abu Dhabi University, including the first quantum computing academic laboratory in the MENA region. His impressive track record includes significant contributions to original scientific research and nine U.S. patents for cutting-edge inventions. Along with his collaborators, he is known for his groundbreaking work in developing electro-optic quantum technologies using 2D graphene materials.
Earning his Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering from Dalhousie University, Canada, Professor Qasymeh then received the prestigious Mitacs Elevate Postdoctoral Fellowship from the University of Ottawa's Microwave Photonics Research Laboratory. He serves on advisory boards for high-tech companies and editorial boards of prestigious academic journals, including Scientific Reports by the Nature Portfolio.
