Although just 19 years old[NADS1] , Abu Dhabi University has featured regularly in the QS World University Rankings amongst the top higher education institutions in the region. Indeed, in the 2021 edition, ADU was further honoured by being named among the world’s top 150 universities under 50 years of age.
Below we take a closer look at Abu Dhabi University’s ranking in the world and why its degrees are so highly valued around the world.
How does Abu Dhabi University rank in the world?
There are various different rankings that judge and measure the quality of each university, and help potential students decide which one is right for them.
The QS World University Rankings
The QS World University Rankings is an annual publication by Quacquarelli Symonds (QS). It is one of only two international university rankings that are recognised by the International Ranking Expert Group (IREG) and it is currently one of the most widely referenced world ranking systems.
For the 2022 edition, it analysed 1,673 different higher education institutions. Abu Dhabi University was thrilled to be ranked 701-750 for the fourth year in a row and out of 180 universities, it was also named the 37th best university in the Arab region.
Compared to previous performances, in 2022 Abu Dhabi University also improved in both the ‘Academic Reputation’ and ‘Citations per Faculty’ categories, ranking fourth in the latter out of the top 10 universities in the region.
Abu Dhabi University was found to be a global leader in nurturing an international student community, and it was ranked 5th for international faculty and 11th for international students.
Finally, in 2022, Abu Dhabi University received the prestigious 5 QS Star rating for the first time ever. As the highest rating possible across the categories of teaching, employability, internationalisation, research, online learning, facilities and inclusiveness, it was an enormous honour for the whole institution.
Meanwhile, in the 2021 QS World University Rankings the city of Abu Dhabi was named as the 92nd best student city in the world, and the emirate’s best category was affordability, where it ranked joint 77th.
This is due to Abu Dhabi’s somewhat surprisingly modest cost of living, and the fact that it boasts low tuition fees in comparison to other student cities. Indeed, studying at Abu Dhabi University offers a more cost-effective way of gaining a quality degree than studying in the UK or USA.
Famously, in the 2018 QS World University Rankings, Abu Dhabi University was ranked in the top 2% universities in the world and it has continued to build on this success ever since.
Times Higher Education
In the Global Employability Ranking and Survey 2020, published by French consultancy Emerging and Times Higher Education, the much-admired publication, Abu Dhabi University ranked top for employability in the UAE and third in the Arab world.
The survey asked 9,000 recruiters from more than 22 countries to rate the employability performance of 6,000 international institutions, and Abu Dhabi University was recognised as the number one institution for commitment to academic quality and prioritising the employability of its students.
