Dr. Smitha Dev has been teaching psychology in the GCC for over 18 years. She has a Ph.D. in Psychology, a Master of Applied Psychology, and has worked as a faculty member at Abu Dhabi University for over 11 years. She also serves as Chair of the Humanities Department in the College of Arts & Sciences. As a psychologist, Dr. Dev has expertise in counseling and psychometric testing. Before joining ADU, she taught psychology in Dubai, Muscat, and India and worked as a psychologist with hospitals in Muscat and India.
She is a recipient of ADU’s ‘Best Faculty Researcher Award’ for 2014-2015 and 2017-2018. Her areas of expertise are teaching, research, developing intervention programs for children with learning disabilities, psychometric testing, the diagnosis and treatment of children with learning disabilities, and counseling. She is the author and co-author of numerous peer-reviewed journal articles. Dr. Dev’s research focuses on emotional intelligence, various topics in special education, and educational psychology.
