2019 Think Science Competition
Students from the Electrical and Computer Engineering (ECE) Department were awarded first and third place in the very competitive Smart Systems & AI and Safety Systems & Bioinformatics categories respectively at the 2019 Think Science University Competition.
Students from the Electrical and Computer Engineering (ECE) Department were awarded first and third place in the very competitive Smart Systems & AI and Safety Systems & Bioinformatics categories respectively at the 2019 Think Science University Competition.
Dana Almanla, Tasnim Al-Asa’d, Leen Alasadi, and Eman Al Naqbi made up the team that took first place under the guidance of Dr. Ghazal, Dr. Altarabsheh, and Dr. Alkheder. Their project was an autonomous and sustainable sea cleaning robot and marks the third time the College of Engineering has taken first place in the competition. Third place in the Safety Systems & Bioinformatics category went to Lina Al Ghozzi, Malaz Omer, Manal Garghab, and Nourin Haidar, supervised by Dr. Fraiwan, for their smart wearable IoT pressure measurement insole system.
The ECE department submitted 12 projects that qualified to be exhibited in front of the judges. This is a record number and a major student success story.
The competition, organized by Emirates Foundation, engaged 1850 students in 700 projects. Considered the most prestigious competition in the UAE, the competition caters for both high school students and university students.
