ADU’s Public Health students were proud to lead an initiative aimed at raising public awareness about conditions and diseases that are causing premature death in the UAE – heart disease, cancer, stroke, and diabetes.
During the public health awareness and nutrition campaign held in ADU In April, the students devised creative and innovative approaches to disseminate information on the behavioral, cultural, socioeconomic, and nutritional determinants of health risks among the UAE population, devising strategies to evaluate the effectiveness of different interventions. Techniques included smartphone app prototypes, public health awareness campaigns, a specialized health center, a public health screening campaign, and survey prototypes.
The event, organized and supported by Dr. Rym Ghimouz, Dr. Deena Elsori, Chair of the Department of Applied Sciences and Mathematics, and Dr. Hamdi Sheibani, Dean of the College of Arts and Sciences, was a great success and included student presentations, giveaways, vouchers, games and a local organic buffet.
