The rapidly growing media industry requires graduates who understand both the theory and practice of mass communication. This innovative media-based program will allow you to develop specialist knowledge of the concepts, theories, practices and methods that characterize contemporary media and communication and help you thrive in the industry. It will enable you to develop a critical understanding of the key developments within the mass communication industry globally, including new media technology, media production skills, reporting and advertising.
You will be equipped with essential research and analytical skills as well as the ability to write media reports and features for print and electronic media. In-depth study into the role and impact of mass media in the Middle East will enable you to effectively deal with a myriad of on-going communication challenges at a local and regional level, as well as globally.
The program’s unique structure allows you to tailor your interest in media toward a particular career route. You can choose to specialize in Broadcast Journalism, Print Journalism, or Strategic Communication, which includes both Public Relations and Advertising. Students from other disciplines can choose to study mass communication as a minor program.
Our two Memoranda of Understanding (MoU) provide excellent opportunities for students to pursue exchange programs in our partner universities: our MoU with East Carolina University, USA, paves the way for student and faculty exchanges, research collaboration and program partnerships, and an MoU signed with the National Media Council provides educational and training opportunities for our students.

Meera has a passion for communication so the Mass Communication program was the obvious choice for her. She studied the program in English at ADU’s Al Ain campus.

The tuition fee calculations are an example only and are based on the assumption that elective courses will be taken with the College that the student is taking their major with. However, if the student selects elective courses outside of this College, the total cost payable may increase or decrease to reflect the tuition rate of the College where the elective is delivered.
